A 17-year-old girl from Pottsville was seriously injured when she was struck by a vehicle at 3:15 p.m. July 17 on Route 61 in North Manheim Township.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said she was transported by personnel from the Pottsville/Schuylkill Haven Area EMS unit to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Police said the girl ran into the crosswalk from the right northbound lane of Route 61 and was struck by a 2013 Ford Escape that was driven by Ava M. Lins, 19, of Pottsville.

Police said the Escape was towed from the scene.
