A benefit event in remembrance of Marc Carazo is scheduled for Saturday from 3-10 p.m. at the Sokol Hall on Lehigh Avenue in Palmerton.
Carazo passed away in 2018 and his parents, Frank and Fran, along with several others, have organized the event in the years following his death.
A 1992 graduate of Palmerton Area High School, Carazo was the owner/operator of SnaKKy GraphiKs in Palmerton and spent over a dozen years employed by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency in Harrisburg.
A talented artist and guitarist, he enjoyed playing in his band, SnaKKY, and producing artwork for Palmerton’s Halls of Horror.
Tickets for “Remembering Marc” are $10, which covers food and drink at the event. Food options include pierogies, haluski, hamburger barbecue, hot dogs, pasta salad, baked beans and baked goods.
There will be a basket raffle with options for all ages and a handmade quilt will also be raffled. The drawing will be held at 6 p.m. One sheet, which costs $5, offers 26 chances to win. Five sheets will be offered for $20.
The event features live music including Rikki and Friends from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and Suddenly Found, who will begin performing at 5 p.m.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Carbon County Creative Arts Fund and the Palmerton High School Aevidum and scholarship funds.
Last year’s benefit event raised $9,222 for the eastern chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
