Pleasant Valley hires two deans of education

The Pleasant Valley School Board hired two new deans of education during its meeting July 20.

Daisy Genovese was hired to be the dean of students at the high school. She was an English teacher before the position change. And Richard Rimple was hired as the dean of students at the middle school. He was a science teacher.

The school board also approved changing Lori Hagerman’s title from supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction to reading supervisor. Hagerman has also worked as a literacy coach in the school district.

Other personnel changes include:

• Athletic volunteers - Joe Bush, girls lacrosse;

• Building volunteers - Kristin Hall, Kathleen Phillips and Robert Velazquez;

• Change to current assignment - Tricia Hernandez, from PVHS to PVIS, special education teacher; Amy Hetherington, from PVHS to PVMS, math teacher; Trevor Kresge, from fifth-grade teacher to K-% cyber teacher; and Donna Lamb, custodian, from PVIS/floater to PVIS;

• Hiring of Act 93 staff - Robert Mahady, police officer, $26.28 per hour;

• Hiring of professional staff - Jordan Cook, industrial arts teacher, PVHS, Step 1: $47,357, replaced Richard Petrushka; Jillian Hein, speech and language therapist, districtwide, new position, Step 1: $54,057; Alexander Mountain, English teacher, PVHS, Step 9: $57,457, replaced Bernadette Fierro (due to change of assignment); Rheannon Parker, kindergarten teacher, PVES, Step 2: $47,757, replaced Cassandra Crawford; Nicole Spohn, learning support teacher, PVIS, Step 1: $47,357, replaced Sarah Brodsky; Erin Steiner, school counselor, PVHS, Step 2: $71,957, replaced Sarah Talianek; Jennifer Barnish, math teacher, PVHS, Step 5 $49,657, replaced Amy Hetherington (transferring to PVMS); and Paul Nembhard, art teacher, PVHS, Step 3 $48,257, replaced George Boudman;

• Hiring of support staff - Jessica Jennings, health room technician, PVES, $31,267; and James Russi, PVIS/floater, $18.74 per hour;

• Recall and remove from support staff furlough list - paraprofessionals: Jennifer Figueroa, PVIS; Leslie Jacobson, PVMS; and Amy Eckert, PVHS, all Step 1 at a salary of $26,257;

• Salary adjustment - Donna Lamb, from $18.29 to $18.74 per hour;

• Student activities - James DeVivo, Music Honor Society, PVHS;

• Supplemental contracts: athletic - Laura Ammermann, boys tennis, junior varsity assistant; Gail Urland, girls tennis, junior varsity assistant; Kris Gratalo, wrestling, junior high assistant; and Damarcus George, boys soccer, varsity assistant;

• Supplemental contracts: athletic non-coaching (2022/2023) - Jonathon Lopez, sub, fall/winter/spring;

• Supplemental contracts: athletic non-coaching (2023/2024) - James Percey, sub and event manager, fall/winter/spring; Bron Leupold, sub for fall/winter/spring, varsity scorekeeper for baseball, varsity scoreboard operator for girls and boys basketball, junior varsity scoreboard operator for girls and boys basketball, freshman scoreboard operator for boys basketball; James Igoe, sub for fall/winter/spring, and junior high scoreboard operator for boys and girls basketball; and Beth Green, varsity and junior varsity scoreboard operator for girls soccer and for field hockey.
