Panthers' Hood competes in Big 26 Baseball Classic Panther Valley standout Stephen Hood recently took part in the Big 26 Baseball Classic between Pennsylvania and Maryland. Hood pitched a total of three innings across two games in the three-game series, striking out three, allowing one walk, three hits and three runs, Maryland won the 10th annual all-star showcase 2-1. After dropping the first game 11-7 Friday, Pennsylvania responded with an 11-7 victory on Saturday. Maryland closed out the series with an 11-1 win in Game 3 Sunday. Schuylkill League players competing in the showcase were, from left, Owen Hannevig (Pine Grove), Brady Gustitus (Blue Mountain) and Hood, who pitched one inning in Game 1, and two innings in the third game of the series.
