July 26, 1997 - The Lehighton Times News Sports Department names Northwestern’s Josh Snyder and Lehighton’s Alison Semanoff as its overall Athletes of the Year. Snyder was a three-sport athlete for the Tigers, excelling in football, basketball and baseball. The junior rushed for 1,110 yards and scored 22 touchdowns on the gridiron, averaged 13 points per game and hit 23 three-pointers from his point guard position on the court, and hit .366 and scored 32 runs on the diamond. Semanoff also starred in three sports, being named all-state in field hockey, leading the area in scoring with 24.0 points per game and finishing her career with 1,775 points in basketball, and winning two gold medals and a silver at district track while qualifying for states in three events.
