Explosion levels Penn Forest home

No one was injured after a multilevel vacation home in Penn Forest Township was leveled by an explosion Tuesday morning.

The fire was reported at 9:21 a.m. at 13 Bradstreet Circle in Towamensing Trails, Albrightsville.

“It was a propane leak,” said David Michael III, Deputy Chief, Penn Forest Township Fire Co. No. 2. “There were no injuries, no one was home.”

The Troop N Fire Marshal Unit determined that it was a propane related explosion, and there was nothing suspicious about the blast.

Penn Forest firefighters brought four trucks, 24 volunteers.

Firefighters from Carbon and Monroe counties were called to the scene. The ATF and Lehighton EMS also responded to the scene.

According to reports from the scene, the home is owned by two families.

A large propane tank was located at the back of the house.

According to a post on the fire department’s Facebook page, Michael arrived to find the residence with heavy fire.

Crews remained on scene until the propane leak was contained by the utility company, according to the post.

Michael thanked Palmerton Fire Department for standing by and covering the multiple other calls that came during the day.

He also thanked Penn Forest Township and Towamensing Trails for providing resources.
