State police at Fern Ridge - Crashes
State Police at Fern Ridge reported on the following crashes:
• Anthony Fortes, 18, of East Stroudsburg is facing charges of driving under the influence after a crash at 1:37 a.m. June 6 at the intersection of the Jonas Road and Birch Hollow Drive in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said he was driving a 2016 Dodge Ram truck but did not provide the details of the crash. They did say a victim in the incident is an 18-year-old man, also from East Stroudsburg.
Police said Cortes was under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance.
• Simon Baringoldz, 28, of Effort, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after a motorcycle he was driving struck a deer on Joy Glen in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said he was driving a 2005 Honda when the crash happened at 2:26 a.m. June 2.
Police said he was injured and transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono, East Stroudsburg. The severity of his injuries is unknown, police said.
The cycle was removed from the scene by a relative of Baringoldz.
• Police said a blue pickup left the scene of a two-vehicle crash at 4:59 p.m. July 13 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township. Police said a 2019 Hyundai Tucson operated by Helen C. Argiriadi, 82, of Effort, slowed down in the right lane due to traffic and was struck from behind by the pickup. She was uninjured.
Police said the driver of the pickup truck left the scene via Route 209 southbound.
• The drivers of two vehicles involved in a crash at 9:15 a.m. July 12 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township had minor injuries.
An unidentified driver of a 2009 Acura MDX failed to stop in time for slowed-down traffic and the car struck the rear of a 2017 Honda Odyssey that was waiting for a vehicle to turn into the parking lot of the First Northern Bank, striking it in the rear.
Police said both drivers had minor injuries.
The vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.
• Donald Paul F. Miller, 29, of Brodheadsville, was cited with “following too closely” after a crash at 4:17 p.m. July 12 at the intersection of Route 715 and Idlewood Road in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said he was driving a 2016 Subaru Legacy northbound when it struck the rear of a 2018 Nissan Sentra driven by Meghan C. Boyle, 28, of Pen Argyl, who was stopped in the left lane waiting to turn onto Idlewood Drive.
No one was injured in the crash. Both vehicles had disabling damages, police said.
