Walnutport Borough Council

Walnutport Borough Council on a 6-0 vote took the following action on Thursday:

• Agreed to have borough solicitor Michael Corriere draft an ordinance to make it no parking from the intersection of Williams Avenue and New Street to Williams Avenue and Birch Street, east side, and from the intersection of Williams Avenue and Birch Street to Williams Avenue and South Lehigh Gap Street, west side.

• Approved the Northern Lehigh Events Committee Halloween Parade request for Oct. 28, with a rain date of Oct. 29, with the exception that the borough will not allow the road to be closed before 6 p.m. pending they submit a new letter including the police and fire police.

• Approved $870 in education for officer Nick Hartman for schooling.

• Approved a trapping permit for Ronald Prutzman.

• Fall e-recycling and shredding event will be held Sept. 20.

• Walnutport Canal Festival will be Oct. 15.

• Trick or Treat will be from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 25.

• There are three vacant seats on the UCC Appeal Board, and one each on the planning commission, Civil Service Commission, and vacancy board. An alternate is also sought for the zoning hearing board.
