State police at Lehighton incidents

State police at Lehighton report the following incidents.

• A 49-year-old Kunkletown man told police he was the victim of theft by deception.

Police were called June 23 to a property on West King’s Way, Polk Township, where the man reported an account had been opened in his name.

• A 35-year-old Kunkletown woman told police she was the victim of theft by deception.

Police said they were called July 8 to a property on Hemlock Street in Lower Towamensing Township, where the woman reported someone made a fraudulent unemployment compensation claim in her name.

• A Lehighton man was jailed on outstanding warrants when police responded to a domestic incident at 6:38 p.m. July 10 on North First Street in Mahoning Township.

Police said Darryl Deppen, 43, was committed to the Carbon County Correctional Facility, Nesquehoning. A charge of harassment was also filed against him.

Police say Deppen harassed and reportedly shoved a 13-year-old boy and a 43-year-old woman, both from Lehighton.

• A 36-year-old man from Saylorsburg as charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop at 1:35 a.m. July 10 at the intersection of Route 209 and Village Edge Road in Chestnuthill Township.

• Police said two women, both from Palmerton, were attacked by a dog at 2:20 p.m. July 8 along Hemlock Street in Lower Towamensing Township.

Police said the women are a 31 and 58 years old.

• Mark A. Moses, 52, of Summit Hill, escaped injuries when a car he was driving hit a deer on Mahoning Drive in Mahoning Township at 5:28 a.m. July 7. His Nissan Rogue had to be towed.

• A 40-year-old woman from Wind Gap was cited with criminal mischief after an incident at June 1 on Silver Spring Boulevard, Eldred Township.

Police said the woman damaged the mailbox of an 60-year-old woman from Kunkletown. It is worth $200, police said.

• A woman whose friend’s Facebook account was hacked ended up losing $800 in the incident.

Police said they were called at 11:29 p.m. July 7 to a property on Upper Smith Gap Road, Ross Township, where the woman said she sent the friend $800 via Venmo and meta pay that was stolen in the hacking incident.

• A 23-year-old Summit Hill man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a traffic stop at 2:22 a.m. July 7 at East Amidon and South Pine streets in Summit Hill. He is also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
