Explore Lake Minsi in a free borrow-a-canoe opportunity with Wildlands Conservancy.

The lake is at 49 Blue Mountain Dr., Bangor.

No pre-registration is required.

Wildlands Conservancy Guides will provide canoe equipment as well as knowledge of the area, paddling tips and instructions so that you can explore the lake on your own while guides remain nearby.

The event is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday starting today through Sept. 24.

Parking is in the West Shore Parking Lot for Minsi Lake.

Here are the few rules:

• Each participant must sign a liability waiver.

• Life jackets must be worn and remain buckled or zipped at all times.

• Do not stand up in the canoes.

• Children must be accompanied by an adult.

• Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.

• Please follow instructions from the Wildlands Conservancy Guides. They will assist in paddling technique and boat handling skills.
