FT, Braves fall short

Franklin Township suffered a setback in Lehigh Valley Connie Mack action on Thursday, while the Berlinsville Braves fell in a Blue Mountain League contest.

Lower Mac-Franklin

A nine-run opening inning was all Lower Mac needed to secure a 9-4 victory over Franklin Township in Lehigh Valley Connie Mack action.

Tyler Funk finished with two singles, a run scored and an RBI for Lower Mac.

Brayden Ulshafer paced Franklin with a single, two walks and a run scored. Chase Llwellyn and Jed Cordes each added a single and an RBI.

Martins Creek posted an 8-1 win over Berlinsville in Blue Mountain League action.

Brian Horoshko was 2-for-2 with a triple and three RBIs with a run scored and a walk for the Creekers (12-8), while Brandon Mazzie added a solo homer among his two hits. Greg Taylor (two runs scored, two walks) and Matt Rosace (RBI) also doubled in the win. On the mound, Gavin Sopko tossed five stellar innings, striking out 11 while surrendering just one walk and only one earned run.

Willian Surarez, (double), Ben Gagnon, Luke Spencer (run scored), Owen Fischl, Austin Mueller (stolen base) and Shane Fillman (walk) all had hits for the Braves (9-11).
