The Most Rev. Andrew J. Pataki, D.D., Auxiliary Bishop of the Passaic Diocese, Vicariate of Pennsylvania, who resides in Conyngham, has been named bishop of the Byzantine Catholic Diocese of Parma, Ohio.

A native of Palmerton, Bishop Pataki received his appointment Tuesday. The announcement was made by the Most Rev. Pio Laghi, Apostolic Pro-Nuncio, on behalf of Pope John Paul II.

He is the son of Sophie Dejak of Cedar Grove, N.J., and the late Ignatius Pataki and was born in Palmerton, being baptized in SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in that community.
