A motorcyclist was seriously injured this afternoon in a crash along Route 309 in Rush Township.

The accident occurred just after 3 p.m. at the intersection of Route 309 and Ben Titus Road involving a Jeep and a motorcycle.

The Jeep came to rest on the northeast corner of the parking lot of Skipper Dippers while the bike and the rider came to rest on the lot in front of the eatery.

Hometown firefighters assisted with the victims and maintained traffic control at the scene.

The victim was treated at the scene by members of the Tamaqua ambulance before being transported to a nearby trauma center.

Rush Township police are investigating the incident.
