Memorial benches placed in borough’s parks

A memorial bench project has been well supported, a Nesquehoning borough official said last week.

On Wednesday, Councilman Lou Paul reported that there have been 40 benches ordered by families hoping to memorialize a loved one. The benches will be placed in the borough’s parks, as well as locations that families’ requested.

Paul said that some have been placed at the top of New Columbus park and as more are built, they will be placed in set locations.

He urged people who purchased benches to be patient because it is a process to make the concrete ends before the benches can be assembled.

The project is part of an Eagle Scout project for a Nesquehoning Boy Scout.

Angelo Greek partnered with the Nesquehoning Recreation Commission in May as a way to help the area and remember loved ones.
