The Carbon County Commissioners acted on or discussed the following items during their weekly meeting on Thursday.
• Approved the appointment of Jason Bell of Jim Thorpe to fill a vacancy on the Carbon County Animal Shelter Advisory Commission. The term expires Dec. 31, 2024.
• Approved a request for a three-year contract for licenses and maintenance on GeoComm Maintainer ArcGIS Desktop Software with GeoComm Inc. of St. Cloud, Minnesota. This is for the 911 communications center. The total cost is $7,197.
• Approved a request from the new IT director for security training from KnowB4 of Clearwater, Florida, for security training software for the county network. The four-year contract costs $6,451.20 and includes 12 months free.
• Approved an addendum to an agreement with Jerome P. Scarpati of Lehighton to provide training and assistance to the Carbon County IT department on an as-needed basis. The addendum extends the contract until Aug. 12 at a rate of $150 per hour, not to exceed 10 hours.
• Commissioner Rocky Ahner said that there were approximately 19 contractors who attended the recent mandatory pre-bid meeting for the upcoming courthouse renovation project. Bids are now being accepted for the project. He said the anticipated start date for renovations of the historic courthouse is in November, but it is subject to change.
• Ahner also reported that the board met with CMG, the company completing the repairs for the administration building after the extensive damage from a leak on the third floor. He said that should begin in a few weeks.
• Acknowledged the change of status for Devon M. Lignore of Jim Thorpe, from corrections officer to juvenile probation officer I, effective July 10.
