Thrivent Financial is hosting a free educational event to help attendees develop a strategy to maximize Social Security benefits.

The one-hour program is at 11 a.m. July 22, at Palmerton Area Library, 402 Delaware Ave., Palmerton.

The event will be presented by Susan E. Lovejoy, financial adviser with Thrivent.

The event will seek to answer common questions about Social Security such as:

• When should I apply for Social Security?

• How can I maximize my benefits?

• How will this affect my spouse?
