Palmerton area woman turns 103

Having a positive outlook on life and a strong devotion to the Lord can serve a person well.

Having turned 103 on Thursday, Nan Kaiser is living proof of that.

Flanked by her family and friends at The Palmerton, Kaiser commemorated her special day.

The Palmerton area woman ate birthday cake, received flowers, and enjoyed the company of those who showed their support.

“I’m glad my family all came,” Kaiser said. “It’s nice seeing my friends and people I haven’t seen for a while.”

Kaiser reads her Bible every day, and believes that has aided her throughout her lifetime.

“I think my faith in the Lord and trying to be happy and being joyful, it helps,” she said. “You got to keep a smile on your face.”

Kaiser has four children, 12 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren, with one more on the way.

Andrea Humanick, Community Enrichment Director at The Palmerton, said Kaiser is a special person.

“She is a true inspiration to all of us,” Humanick said. “She’s a remarkable woman.”

Humanick said it was heartwarming to see Kaiser surrounded by her loved ones on her special day.

“She’s so pleasant,” she said. “All day, she had a smile from ear to ear.”

Count Humanick among those who are impressed with Kaiser’s longevity.

“She’s a sweet woman,” she said. “A beautiful person.”
