A train excursion from Philadelphia carried 375 people yesterday to the Bavarian Festival at Lakewood Park, Barnesville, helping to bring the day’s total attendance to 31,000.

Don Conover, public relations director for the festival, said total attendance to date is 62,000 since the rainy opening of the festival on Friday. He said 100 half barrels of beer were consumed yesterday, placing the three-day consumption total at 352 barrels.

The four-car Reading train made the run from Philadelphia in three hours, having made stops in Norristown and Pottstown to bring visitors here.
