Eligible Schuylkill seniors can receive vouchers
The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Senior Farmers’ Market Program will be offered again this year to eligible Schuylkill County older adults.
Each person will receive five $10 vouchers totaling $50 to spend at any farmers’ market or farm stand that participates in the Pennsylvania Farmers’ Market program.
People eligible must be a Schuylkill County resident age 60 or older by Dec. 31 and meet the household income guidelines. Total gross annual income must be at or below $26,973 for one person and $36,482 for a two-person household.
Vouchers will not be mailed. They will be distributed in person only during the scheduled dates, locations and times.
There are several ways to receive the vouchers. Applicants may visit a county Senior Community Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday beginning July 13 through Aug. 17. Centers are located at:
• Mahanoy City Senior Community Center, 138 W. Centre St., Mahanoy City;
• Pottsville Senior Community Center, 201 N. Centre St., Pottsville;
• Schuylkill Haven Senior Community Center, 340 Haven St., Schuylkill Haven, and;
• Tremont Senior Community Center, 139 Clay St., Tremont.
There are no forms to complete before pick up. People must show their photo ID and sign for their vouchers.
If picking up for someone else, complete a proxy form and bring it to the distribution site for that person. Proxy forms are available at all Senior Centers and the Area Agency on Aging.
The voucher program does not include older adults living in nursing care centers or other residential facilities in which meals are provided.

• July 17 - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Shenandoah Area Senior Citizen’s Building, 225 N. Market St., Shenandoah, and 4 to 7 p.m., Diakon Community Services, 2020 W. Norwegian St., Pottsville;
• July 18 - 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Zion Lutheran Church, Fourth and Lewis streets, Minersville;
• July 23 - 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Divine Mercy Roman Catholic Parish, 108 W. Cherry St., Shenandoah;
• July 26 - 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Zukovich’s Farm, 432 Fairview St., Tamaqua;
• July 27 - 3 to 7 p.m., Diakon Community Services, 2020 W. Norwegian St., Pottsville;
• July 28 - 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Shenandoah Area Senior Citizen’s Building, 225 N. Market St., Shenandoah;
• July 31 - 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Billie Payne Community Center (formerly Round House), 400 N. Seventh St., Pottsville;
• Aug. 3 - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Senior Day at the Schuylkill County Fair, Schuylkill County Fair Grounds, Summit Station;
• Aug. 4 - 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., McAdoo Borough Building, 23 Hancock St., McAdoo.
