State police have taken a gunman into custody after an incident Thursday night in Polk Township.

The Polk Fire Department posted Thursday around 9 p.m. that a shelter in place order was in effect for Lower Greenhill Road.

“Residents located around Birch Drive, Oak Terrace and Pine Court are advised to shelter in place.

Lower Green Hill Road will be closed between Mountain View Drive and Route 209. Please avoid area,” the post said.

Friday morning, state police confirmed a barricaded gunman who was taken into custody without any further incident.

They released no other details as of 8 a.m. Friday.
