June 30, 1946 - Walter Slog pitches a four-hit shutout to lead Lansford to a 7-0 Panther Valley League victory over Nesquehoning. Slog strikes out six in nine innings of work and doesn’t issue any walks. Joe Fignar stars at the plate for the winners, finishing 4-for-5 with a double and four RBIs. Chester Trojan also has a productive offensive showing, collecting two hits, scoring three runs and adding two RBIs. “Toss” Ponting and George Puskar both chip in with a hit and a run, while Eddie Gildea adds a hit and an RBI. For the Nesquers, Harry Becker bangs out two hits.
