Lehighton fireworks set for the 4th

They’re spectacular, and promise to illuminate the sky on Independence Day.

The Lehighton Downtown Partnership, under the Carbon Chamber and Economic Development Corp., will present the Lehighton Fireworks at 10 p.m. Tuesday.

They will be launched by the river, behind the Lehighton Outdoor Center, and will last around 20 to 25 minutes, said Bambi Elsasser, Lehighton Main Street manager with the CCEDC.

Elsasser said they will be shot off by Shooting Star Fireworks from Slatington.

“We are an award-winning fireworks show (as named by Times News Readers’ Choice),” Elsasser said. “We do have a wonderful in the air fireworks show, and you can see it from anywhere in Lehighton.”

Elsasser said the event is sponsored by the Lehighton Outdoor Center, Jim Thorpe Neighborhood Bank, Lehigh Fire Company No. 1, Community Bank, Remington and Vernick Engineers, Redline Floor Covering, Pocono Mountain Visitors Bureau, TNT Premier Real Estate, L.E. Williams Printing, The Neffs National Bank, and Walters Monument.

“Without our sponsors, there would be no fireworks,” she said.

Elsasser said there will be no parking in front of Three Little Birds Distillery, the welfare office, or in front of the Lehighton Outdoor Center.

“There are parking areas down further, but once they are filled, it will be blocked off for the safety of the people sitting there,” she said. “People can park on the opposite side, and also by the Trailhead.”

Elsasser said that during the fireworks display Sgt. Stanley Hoffman Boulevard will be blocked off.

She said Ott’s Concession will have funnel cakes, cotton candy, caramel apples, and guests can also order pizza from Domino’s, Alfie’s or Lorenzo’s.

“Come out have a great time,” Elsasser said. “Support Downtown Lehighton.”
