Carbon County sentences

Carbon County Judge Joseph J. Matika recently accepted guilty pleas from three men and sentenced them.

Jared Joseph Stella, 21, of Effort, admitted to criminal trespass. He’ll pay $1,500 in restitution to the victim, have no contact with her, and serve one year on probation.

In addition, he was ordered to pay a $100 LiveScan fee and a $50 monthly supervision fee.

Judge Matika also ordered Stella to undergo mental health and drug and alcohol evaluations.

The remaining charge was dropped.

Palmerton police charged Stella with criminal trespass and defiant trespass on Sept. 12, 2021.

Michael Conklin, 22, of Weissport, pleaded guilty to one count of theft of secondary metal.

Judge Matika ordered him to pay a $100 LiveScan fee and a $50 monthly supervision fee; serve one year on probation, and render 50 hours of community service.

He was also ordered to stay off Country Junction’s property. The remaining charges were dropped.

State police charged Conklin with four counts of theft of metal; four counts of criminal trespass/damage to property; and one count of criminal trespass, simple trespasser on Feb. 28, 2022.

Ted Edwin Kistler, 61, of Slatington, admitted to driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On the DUI charge, he’ll pay a $1,000 fine, lose his license for 12 months, enroll in outpatient treatment, and do 25 hours of community service.

Judge Matika also sentenced Kistler to 72 hours to six months in jail, but gave him credit for eight days served.

On the possession charge, he’ll serve one year on probation; render 50 hours of community service; undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation; pay court costs; and pay a $100 LiveScan fee and a $50 monthly supervision fee.

Kistler also pleaded guilty to driving with a BAC of .02 while his license was suspended. On that charge, Judge Matika fined him $1,000.

The remaining charges were dropped.

Lehighton police charged Kistler with DUI of a controlled substance, impaired ability, first offense; DUI of a controlled substance, schedule 2 or 3 drug, first offense; two counts of possession of a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; driving with a blood alcohol content of .02 while his license was suspended; not having rear lights, and careless driving on June 23, 2021.
