Several Carbon County tax collectors recently attended workshops to maintain their status as qualified and/or certified tax collectors as required by the Pa. State Tax Collectors Association.
The workshop sponsored by the Monroe County Tax Collectors Association on May 18 was attended by seven Carbon County tax collectors.
Representing Lehighton School District were Kathy Henderson (East Penn Township) Pauline Homm (Mahoning Township) and Mary Strohl (Lehighton Borough). Kim Ginopolas (Kidder Township) represented Jim Thorpe and Weatherly school districts. Other attendees from Weatherly School District were Teresa Barna (Lehigh Township), Deborah Kohler and deputy tax collector, Victoria Maguschak (Weatherly borough).
The first District IX workshop was June 14 at Sand Springs Country Club.
District IX consists of tax collectors from Carbon, Columbia, Luzerne and Schuylkill counties.
Carbon County was represented by 11 attendees - Mary Ellen Hines (Beaver Meadows Borough, Hazleton school district); Patricia Spillman (Jim Thorpe borough, Jim Thorpe School District), Kim Ginopolas (Kidder Township, Jim Thorpe and Weatherly school districts); Valerie Kane (Packer Township), Deborah Kohler and deputy Victoria Maguschak (Weatherly borough) also from Weatherly School District. Lehighton Area School District attendees were Sara Keiser (Franklin Township), Pauline Homm (Mahoning Township) and Mary Strohl (Lehighton borough). Palmerton School District attendees were Maxine Sherer (Lower Towamensing Township) and Susan Marques (Towamensing Township).
