Ukrainian summer celebration Saturday in Bethlehem

The Ukrainian National Women’s League of American, Branch 91, will sponsor a Ukrainian Summer Celebration, Ivana Kupala, from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Ice House in downtown Bethlehem.

The family friendly event is open to the public free of charge.

Activities include wreath making, puppet shows and face painting.

Cultural exhibits showcasing Ukrainian arts and crafts, such as beading (gerdanny), egg painting (pysanky) and traditional headdresses, will be on display throughout the day.

Food and snacks will be available, and music will be provided by Robbie Lawrence and the Steelworkers Polka Band.

The highlight of the day’s activities is a stage show from 2 to 4 p.m., featuring the Syzokryli Ukrainian Dance Ensemble from New York City, recently featured in Vogue Magazine, the St. Mary’s Traditional Ukrainian Dancers from Allentown, violinist Innesa Tymochko Dekajlo from Long Island New York and musician George Hrab, the master of ceremonies.

All proceeds from the event will benefit children’s charities in Ukraine.
