Racers face off in annual Hillclimb competition

J. Kurt Eikenberg, of Stewartstown, Pa., successfully defended his speed title in the spring 2023 Weatherly Hillclmb held June 10 and 11 in Weatherly.

Eikenberg recorded a time of 50.402 seconds, a little slower than the 50.062 time he recorded in the 2022 fall Hillclimb in his 1994 Cheetah.

Joe Cyburt, Hillclimb president, said 36 of the 87 entries in the June event recorded a time of 60 seconds or less on the Impossible Minute Mile.

Cars in approximately 25 classes competed, from custom-built cars to street autos to classic cars.

Each year, a spring and fall event is held. The June event was the 62nd annual spring event. The 62nd annual fall event will be held Sept. 16 and 17.
