Franklin Township opened the District 18 18 10-12-Year Old Little League Tournament with a win on Friday.

K. Ahner was lights out on the mound to lead Franklin Township to a 5-1 victory over Hazleton.

The winners got a dominant pitching performance from Ahner, who struck out eight and allowed just two hits and one walk over six innings of work.

Franklin gave Ahner run support early, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning. B. Mriss and A. Kish each finished with a hit and drove in a run. O. Moyer also doubled, scored twice and walked.

The only run Ahner surrendered was a solo homer in the top of the fourth, but Franklin responded with two more runs in the bottom of the inning.

With the win, Franklin will now face Valley East on Monday.
