The Nesquehoning Historical Society will hold the next presentations in its 2023 Presentation Series - a talk and visual presentation, “The Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company’s Room Run gravity railroad,” by local author and historian Vince Hydro.
This was the LC&N’s second railroad, which ran from coal mines at Nesquehoning to the Lehigh River at Mauch Chunk.
There will be two showings, 6:30 p.m. June 26; and 1 p.m. July 1. Copies of Hydro’s publications, including the History of Nesquehoning’s Room Run Railroad will be available.
The events will take place at the NHS Museum, 157 W. Railroad St., corner of Ratcliff and Railroad streets in Nesquehoning.
There is ample parking available in the large lot located next to the museum, however, events have filled up the lot at recent events.
Admission is free, although donations to the Historical Society are always welcome, and go toward maintaining and enhancing the museum.
A view of a mine shaft is one of many photos Vince Hydro will present during a talk at the Nesquehoning Historical Society. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO
