Dr. John J. DeMatte, Lehighton, was elected president of the Panther Valley Carbon County Unit, American Cancer Society, when the annual dinner meeting was held last night at the Blue Ridge Country Club, Palmerton.

His associates include Thomas McCall, Summit Hill, vice president, and John Marshall, Lansford, treasurer. C. Clark Mundy, Tamaqua, and Josephine Brendell, Palmerton, are delegates to the Pennsylvania Division of the American Cancer Society.

McCall, the 1968 crusade chairman, presented gold medallion awards to the Atlas Powder Company and Silberline Manufacturing Company.
