Local Roundup: Results from June 20

Northern Valley was edged by Allentown in Lehigh Valley Legion action Tuesday.

Allentown

Allentown’s Benjamin Moretz pitched a three-hitter to lead Allentown to a 3-2 Lehigh Valley Legion victory over Northern Valley.

Moretz allowed just two unearned runs and two walks while striking out five.

The Chargers did manage to take a 2-1 lead in the sixth on thanks to a hit by Nicholas Scott and two Allentown errors.

Trevor Golden, however, delivered an RBI single in the home sixth to tie the game and a bases-loaded hit by pitch allowed the go-ahead and eventual winning run to score.

Northern Valley’s other hits came from Trey Sterling and Cole Hausman.

The loss dropped the Chargers to 6-3, while Allentown improved to 5-4.

Lower Mac-Carbon

Lower Macungie broke a tie late in the game to gain a 10-6 Lehigh Valley Legion victory over the Carbon Monarchs.

Evan Murphy had two hits and scored a pair of runs for Carbon, while Garrett Lienhard added a single, triple and a run.

The Monarchs also received two hits and an RBI from both Jack Edwards and Lawrence Baldassano, while Rich Strack contributed a hit and two RBIs. Aiden Rarick and Andrew Bosi both chipped in with a hit and an RBI.

Northampton-

Palmerton

Palmerton used a huge rally to earn an 8-8 tie with Northampton in Lehigh Valley Connie Mack play.

The Bombers scored seven times in the bottom of the seventh inning to erase an 8-1 deficit.

Dirk Strohl opened the scoring in the seventh with a bases-loaded walk. Michael Elliot then laced a two-run single, while Colton Becker was hit by a pitch with bases loaded to force home Dillon Uhnak. Gaige Vezo delivered a two-run double before Becker scored on an error to tie the game.

No extra innings were played due to darkness.

Vezo led the way for Palmerton with his double, a run scored and two RBIs, while Becker finished with a single, a run, a walk and an RBI.

Joshua Carrasco had a pair of hits for Northampton.

NORCO LEGION

Pen Argyl-Birches

Nathan Loch pitched a four-hitter on Monday to lead the Birches to a 10-1 NorCo Legion victory over Pen Argyl.

Jack Smale hit a home run for the winners, who raced to a 5-0 lead after the first inning.

Gabe Starnadori had a hit and a run, while Jake Gethen contributed a double. Other hits came from Loch, Andrew Meitzler, Ben Mostosky, Austin Ratti and Maverick Walsh.
