Franklin Township supervisors hired two full-time workers at its monthly meeting Tuesday.
Shawn Hutchinson and Andre’ LaGamma were hired as road/garbage crew employees.
Hutchinson started on May 26, two weeks before his original hire date.
Supervisor Fred Kemmerer thanked Hutchinson for starting early.
“We were in a huge pinch,” Kemmerer said, “and he decided he was going to come work with us prior to what his initial start date was. It 100% helped us out enormously.”
LaGamma started on June 12.
There will be no change in garbage collection for the July 4 holiday for township residents.
The board also approved a request from the Borough of Lehighton for anklin Township fire and police assistance for traffic control at the Annual 4th of July fireworks from 7-10 p.m. July 4.
Supervisors also retroactively approved a request from the Lehighton Area School District for the Franklin Township fire and police assistance for traffic control at the high school’s graduation on June 9.
