Franklin Township hires two workers

Franklin Township supervisors hired two full-time workers at its monthly meeting Tuesday.

Shawn Hutchinson and Andre’ LaGamma were hired as road/garbage crew employees.

Hutchinson started on May 26, two weeks before his original hire date.

Supervisor Fred Kemmerer thanked Hutchinson for starting early.

“We were in a huge pinch,” Kemmerer said, “and he decided he was going to come work with us prior to what his initial start date was. It 100% helped us out enormously.”

LaGamma started on June 12.

There will be no change in garbage collection for the July 4 holiday for township residents.

The board also approved a request from the Borough of Lehighton for anklin Township fire and police assistance for traffic control at the Annual 4th of July fireworks from 7-10 p.m. July 4.

Supervisors also retroactively approved a request from the Lehighton Area School District for the Franklin Township fire and police assistance for traffic control at the high school’s graduation on June 9.
