Bohemian Market grooves to the beat in Lehighton
The first Bohemian Market, run by the Carbon Chamber and Economic Development, was held Saturday in Lehighton’s downtown park.
The Bohemian theme celebrated the freedom and relaxed atmosphere of the late 1960s and early ’70s.
“Our team of people came up with this idea,” Bambi Elsasser, Lehighton Main Street Manager, said. “We’re featuring tie-dyed items, handcrafted clothing, crystals, jewelry, candles and more. We have 20 vendors today.”
“We are also doing crafts,” Elsasser said. “Crafts that were popular in the ’60s and ’70s, like the big paper flowers, the drip candles, and sand art.”
Taryn Turano and Michelle Converse from Scranton had a tent set up for their business, “Taryn’s Treasures.”
“We have hand tie-dyed cotton apparel and bags, children’s clothes, dresses, resin products, jewelry, and trinket boxes,” Turano said. “I thought it fit in very well with the Bohemian theme.”
Malika Mathis, of Palmerton, operates her own business, MotherNatureMinerals.com, and was selling a variety of items she made herself.
“I have ethically-sourced crystal jewelry, made by me,” Mathis said. “It’s all made with stainless steel and brass. I also make candles with soy wax, crystals, and organic herbs.
“It think my products blend perfectly with the Bohemian theme, It’s got that hippie vibe for everyone to enjoy.”
Home Comfort Solutions and Dream Team Destinations by Bambi were sponsors of the Bohemian Market.
