Pickleball, a sport which contains the elements of tennis, badminton and Ping-Pong, is coming to Summit Hill.
Kathy Gieniecs, president of the Summit Hill Recreation Commission, said an introduction to the pickleball concept will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, at the Hilltop Community Center.
Gieniecs said the meet-and-greet will be for beginners, advanced players, instructors or individuals interested in the game. Refreshments will be served.
Gieniec said the Recreation Commission has purchased the equipment for pickleball, although no date has been set regarding when it will begin.
She said that she hopes for feedback at the meet-and-greet to help determine what days and times are good to have pickleball.
Helping Gieniec get the pickleball organized is Lehighton’s Recreation Director Thomas Evans, she said.
In other Recreation Commission news, Gieniec said that because of multiple requests, there will be a community yard sale again this year in Summit Hill.
The event will starts at 8 a.m. July 8.
A registry, which costs $5 to get on, of participating homes will be compiled, she said.
To be included on the registry, she said people should sign-up at the borough hall during regular business hours.
