Man heads to court on multiple charges

Criminal charges against a Nesquehoning man related to an incident involving an argument with a knife were held for Carbon County Court of Common Pleas.

Donald Conklin IV, 28, of West Catawissa Street, appeared before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek for a preliminary hearing last month.

The judge held charges of terroristic threats, simple assault, criminal trespass and harassment related to an incident May 10 on West Ridge Street in Nesquehoning for court.

A misdemeanor charge of possession of instrument of crime with intent to employ it criminally was dismissed.

Formal arraignment is scheduled Aug. 18.

Conklin remains in the Carbon County prison in lieu of bail, which was originally set at $10,000. The bail was later reduced.

According to court papers, Nesquehoning police responded to a report of Conklin having a knife and chasing a man just before 11 p.m. Police took Conklin into custody and got the knife.

The man told police that Conklin showed up at his home, wouldn’t leave and an argument ensued, during which Conklin pulled out a knife and threatened him, court papers said. The man pushed Conklin down the street.
