Levandusky earns honor Named to PA Sports Hall of Fame
Former Palmerton standout Nicole Levandusky will be inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame this fall.
Levandusky will represent the Carbon Chapter at the 60th annual ceremony, which will take place Oct. 27 and 28 at the Delta by Marriott in Breinigsville.
Other inductees include Frank Bolick, C Vivian Stringer, David Crowell, Matt Millen, Larry Miller, Dan Baker, Janet Hutchinson, Russ Grimm, Art Howe, Bob Bubb, William “Billy” Sheridan and Art “Gene” Guarilia.
Levendusky graduated from Palmerton in 1997 and was one of the best athletes in school history.
In basketball, she was a four-time First Team league selection and was the Colonial League MVP in back-to-back-to-back seasons (1995-97). During her career, the Blue Bombers accumulated a record of 101-19 including a school-record 31 wins her senior campaign.
She scored 2,662 career points - the most in Palmerton history and set a school record for points in a game with 52.
Levandusky was also a four-time First Team league all-star in softball. She set single season records for hits (45), singles (29), RBIs (49) and batting average (.577). In her career, she finished with 122 hits and 103 RBIs while compiling a .526 average.
After high school, the former Blue Bomber played basketball at Xavier University. She was the Atlantic 10’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2001 and a First Team All-League selection in 2000 and 2001. She is sixth on Xavier’s all-time scoring list with 1,755 points and first in steals (375) and three-pointers made (304). In the program’s first-ever NCAA tournament win, Levandusky scored 23 points. During her senior year, she helped her team post a 31-3 record and advance to the NCAA’s Elite Eight.
Following college, Levandusky was drafted by the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks and played 13 games during the team’s championship season in 2001.
Levandusky was named to the Lehigh Valley Basketball Hall of Fame in 2007, and was inducted into the Carbon County Sports Hall of Fame in 2015. She also entered the Xavier Sports Hall of Fame in 2009.
