Tamaqua woman bites another in argument after dog attack

Two Tamaqua woman were charged following a fight after a June 2 dog attack on North Greenwood and Mauch Chunk street.

One of the women was bitten - not by a dog but by the other woman, police said.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the area at 9:15 p.m. for a woman who might have been bitten by a dog. The Schuylkill County Communications Center then advised that they were unsure whether the caller was bitten by a dog or a person.

Officers arrived on the scene and spoke to Deanna Kite, 21, who said Patricia Clemens, 68, and another person were walking their dog past her home when her cousin’s dog broke from its leash and started to attack Clemens’ dog.

Police said Clemens then “went after” the owner but Kite intervened. Kite and Clemens started to fight.

Clemens told police that Kite intervened as she attempted to speak with the owner while calling 911. She said the dog’s owner was fleeing without providing any information on the dog.

Police said Kite bit Clemens in her right arm, and spit in her face and mouth. Kite was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.

Clemens was charged with harassment and disorderly conduct. The dog’s owner has not been located. A neighbor provided video of the incident.
