Carbon County commissioners

Carbon County Commissioners, during their weekly meeting on Thursday, acted on or discussed the following items:

• Approved the county Area Agency on Aging acting as the fiscal manager for the LINK Program through June 30, 2024.

• Approved a renewal agreement with Julie Rovinski-Mann of Jim Thorpe to continue as the Carbon County LINK coordinator through June 30, 2024 at a rate of $25 per hour, not to exceed 40 hours per week.

• Awarded a contract for refuse collection and single-stream recycling for various county facilities to County Waste of Pennsylvania LLC of Lake Ariel. The company bid $118,325.48.

• Approved an interoperability and site sharing agreement with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania through the Pennsylvania State Police Harrisburg to facilitate the collection of emergency telecommunications equipment among state and county owned or maintained radio towers/facilities. The agreement is for 20 years and renews in successive one-year terms. The cost of equipment relocation is covered under Act 12.

• The commissioners welcomed Cecilia I. Toolsee, Albrightsville, the new purchasing manager, who began on June 5.

• Register of Wills Jean Papay congratulated Barb Miller, first deputy, on her retirement.

• Commissioner Chris Lukasevich announced that the county continues to hire lifeguards, noting that the director is fairly confident the county will have 10 to 11 lifeguards on staff for the summer swimming season.

• Retirement: Gail M. Marek of Nesquehoning, administrative assistant II, Children and Youth Services, effective July 7.

• Resignation: Samantha R. Janner of Nesquehoning, seasonal park ranger II, effective June 28.

• Employment separation: Michael R. Johnson Jr. of Tobyhanna, corrections officer, effective June 6.

• Change of status: Caleb D. Carpenter of Lehighton, from IT system administrator to IT director, effective June 12.

• Hire as recommended by department supervisor: Jonathan R. Porambo of Lehighton, lifeguard.

• Acknowledgment: Hannah J. Robles of Lehighton, from second deputy to first deputy, register of wills, effective June 12.
