Walnutport Borough Council took the following action on Thursday:

• Hired a part-time assistant secretary at the rate of $13 an hour.

• Adopted a fire code ordinance.

• Appointed Jennifer Wentz to the vacancy board.

• Appointed Kristie Wentling as delegate, Jen Wentz alternate No. 1, and Mike Gaston alternate No. 2 as TCC representatives to the Lehigh Tax Collection Committee Delegates.

• Agreed to close escrow account RDC LLC - past improvement maintenance period, as most of the properties have been sold.

• Announced that the borough received a thank-you letter from the Slatington Public Library for the borough’s yearly donation.

• Announced that the fall recycling and shredding event will be held on Sept. 20.

• Adopted a designation of agent resolution.
