W. Penn Lion Neumoyer receives international president’s award

Past District Gov. Lion Robert (Bob) Neumoyer of the West Penn Township Lions club recently received a Lions Clubs International President’s award at the Pennsylvania Lions State Convention in Indiana.

The award was presented by the International President of Lions Clubs consisting of more than 1.4 million members in 202 countries and more than 48,000 Lions clubs.

Pennsylvania has more than 17,000 Lions members in 675 clubs with 17 districts. The West Penn Township Lions Club is part of District 14-U which is in Schuylkill, Carbon, Monroe and Pike counties.

Neumoyer has been an active Lions member for 23 years.

He has served in various offices including director, vice president and president.

He is presently serving as the secretary, an office he has held for the past 11 years. He also serves on the district level where he has served on various committees.

He is presently serving as chairperson of the environmental committee. He is an active chairman, helping with competitions between middle and high school students in Envirothons in Carbon County.

In addition he has served as zone chairman, vice district governor and district governor of District 14-U. He has also served as cabinet secretary for five district governors.

Neumoyer is also active on the state level, serving a three-year term on the International Convention Committee for the Lions of Pennsylvania.

At the present time he serves as a director on the board of the Lions of Pennsylvania Foundation.

Neumoyer has received several awards including the President’s Certificate of Appreciation and the trophy for KidSight (which is a program for screening the eyes of young children). He has also received the International President’s Leadership Award, and is a progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.

He is married to his wife Becky, who is also a Lion as well as a progressive Melvin Jones Fellow. The couple have two sons and several grandchildren.

Neumoyer is planning to attend the International Convention of Lions Clubs in Boston in July.
