Ten people were injured, some seriously in a violent three vehicle crash Saturday night in Towamensing Township.

The incident occurred at 8:15 p.m. when a car traveling at a high rate of speed south on Penn Forest road crossed over Pohopoco Drive entering Trachsvlle Hill Road where it hit two other vehicles.

Two of the injured were ejected. Two medical transport helicopters responded to the scene flying two of the more seriously injured.

Seven ambulances from Carbon, Lehigh and Northampton counties were called to the site to treat and transport the injured.

Fire companies from Towamensing, Franklin and Polk townships responded to extricate and help aid the victims while also setting up the air medical landing zones.

State police at Lehighton and their forensic unit are investigating the incident.
