Man has meth, charged after jumping on 15 roofs

An Allentown man faces multiple charges after romping on rooftops in Summit Hill early Sunday morning.

Timothy Morales Jr., 30, of Union Boulevard, remains jailed in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in Nesquehoning following the hourslong rooftop standoff with police.

He was arraigned by District Judge Edward M. Lewis on charges of criminal mischief, criminal trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia and jailed in lieu of $20,000 bail.

According to court papers, Summit Hill police were dispatched to 325 E. Hazard St. just before 1 a.m. Sunday for someone running and jumping on rooftops of homes.

Multiple residents in the block pointed to their roofs, stating they heard loud noises, as if someone was on their roofs, court papers said.

Police found Morales lying on a porch roof of 313 E. Hazard St. after a short search. The officer, who was familiar with Morales, spoke to him, and he climbed to the top of the home, court papers said.

Morales refused to come down, saying, “Spit on my grave. I will not come down and let you hurt me.”

Morales then ran and climbed on 15 different homes in the 300-block of East Hazard Street. Police called additional police for assistance, as well as the Summit Hill Fire Department for lighting and ladders.

Police communicated with Morales via a cellphone, and after hours, Morales peacefully surrendered, court papers said.

He was able to climb down using ladders placed by the fire department, police said.

Officers found a small amount of drug paraphernalia in his pants pocket folded in a dollar bill. Morales told police it was “meth,” court papers said.
