Engine 778 was christened in style by the East End Fire Company, Tamaqua, on Sunday afternoon.

The new 1997 KME “Renegade” 1,500-gallon-per-minute engine was given a formal dedication as part of the company’s annual block party festivities.

The vehicle was obtained at a cost of $200,000 through the 2 percent loan program of the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the Corestates Bank, Tamaqua.

A parade that included 45 engines and other emergency apparatus preceded the dedication ceremony.
