The Illini 4000 Bike team had a stopover in Lehighton on Memorial Day and was greeted by volunteers of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lehighton, who hosted the group overnight.
The University of Illinois-Champaign team made the stop on the third day of their three month route across America. The goal of the ride is to raise funds for cancer research, as well as document cancer patients’ stories.
The event began at Strawberry Fields, Central Park, New York City, and will conclude in San Francisco on Aug. 12.
