The Carbon Monarchs won their second game in as many days, defeating Northern Valley on Thursday.

Carbon Monarchs- Northern Valley

A strong pitching performance by Rich Strack helped the Carbon Monarchs gain an 8-2 Lehigh Valley Legion victory over Northern Valley.

Strack went the distance, scattering eight hits while allowing just two runs. The winning hurler, who also had two RBIs in the contest, didn’t walk any and finished with six strikeouts.

Carter Birnbaum collected two hits and knocked in two runs for the Monarchs, who jumped out to an early 5-0 lead. Garrett Leinhard added a double, two runs and two RBIs, while Ian Henkles contributed a hit, three runs and two stolen bases.

The winners also received a double, two walks, two steals and two runs from Aiden Rarick.

For the Chargers, Nicholas Bogert had a double and an RBI. Andrew Diehl added a single and an RBI, while Shaun O’Donnell and Jared Felch both chipped in with a hit and a run.

Carbon is now 2-0, while Northern Valley fell to 2-1.

Palmerton-Nazareth

Nazareth cruised to a Connie Mack victory, shutting out Palmerton 17-0.

Winning pitcher Max Zellers allowed just two hits in three and two-thirds innings, striking out four.

Zellers received plenty of support from his teammates, who put the game away with a 10-run fourth inning.

Jake Trach collected three hits, two runs and three RBIs for Nazareth, while Jake Morehouse finished with two hits and scored a pair of runs.

For the Bombers, Gaige Vezo had both of his team’s hits.
