Nearly $9,000 in jewelry stolen in Monroe

State police at the Stroudsburg barracks are investigating a theft that was reported to them at 1:12 p.m. May 5.

It happened at a home along Remington Road, Smithfield Township. The victims are a 61-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man, both from East Stroudsburg.

Police said a gold bracelet with two karats worth of diamonds ($3,000), a second gold bracelet, having about 1.5 karats of diamonds in it ($2,000), and a platinum ring ($3,599) were stolen.

The jewelry has a combined value of $8,599, police said.
