State police at the Fogelsville barracks are investigating a theft by deception case.

A 48-year-old Northampton employee at the Olde Homestead Golf Club, Route 309, Lynn Township, reported the theft at 2:36 p.m. May 16.

Police said the victim informed them someone hacked an employee’s email and was able to have his payroll information changed to a different bank account. The suspect then fraudulently received a paycheck in the amount of $2,380.22 that was intended for one of the clubs’ employees.
