A Schuylkill County woman could face DUI charges after she crashed a school van into another vehicle Monday morning in Lehighton.
At 8:06 a.m., police were dispatched to the intersection of South First Street and Bridge Street for a motor vehicle collision involving injuries and a school transport vehicle.
Upon arrival, it was determined the school transport vehicle was not occupied by any students and was a privately contracted transportation company through a school in Luzerne County.
There was no damage to either vehicle.
The rear-end collision caused neck pain to the driver of the vehicle struck by the school transport vehicle.
The victims were a 66-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman, both of Lehighton.
Throughout conversation with the driver of the school transport vehicle, a 31-year-old woman from McAdoo, police observed signs of impairment.. She was placed through a series of roadside testing and taken into custody.
The woman refused to take a drug evaluation. She was subsequently transported to St. Luke’s Carbon Campus for a blood draw.
Charges are pending on the results of the blood draw.
