Traffic stop results in drug, gun charges

A 31-year-old Sciota man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and firearms charges after a traffic stop made by state police at the Lehighton barracks.

Police said they stopped the man for a vehicle code violation while he was driving a 2003 Ford Expedition at 11:34 a.m. May 5 on Interchange Road in Towamensing Township. The firearms charges related to the man not having a valid concealed carry permit, police said.
