The Schuylkill United Way held its annual Captain Jason B. Jones Memorial Day of Caring in Schuylkill County last week.
The event was created to match volunteers to service projects at partner agency organizations that facilitate health and human services for free or little cost to residents.
The volunteers work on indoor and outdoor projects at the nonprofit sites, doing everything from gardening to painting. Hundreds turn out each year.
The efforts are in honor of Captain Jason B. Jones who dedicated his life to his community and country.
In Tamaqua, volunteers from EMD Electronics in Hometown spruced up areas outside the American Legion, Tamaqua Train Station and Child Development. They also helped with projects at the Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care Center.
