A 51-year-old Saylorsburg man was scammed out of $1,000 in a theft by deception incident that is being investigated by state police at the Lehighton barracks.

Police said they were called at 3:50 p.m. May 3 to a residence on Interchange Road in Towamensing Township where the victim told them he received a call from someone who said he worked for Wells Fargo and requested the man by two $500 gift cards. The victim bought the cards and gave the gift card information to the man, police said.
